Fall / winter trends in design. Suggested by furniture and interior designer Evija.

New seasons come with new trends. 2019 fall / winter trends show rich color palette and expressive materials, patterns, and decorative elements, refreshing your home atmosphere and making it more inspirational and enjoyable. More about how to pick the right things for your home told by RIPO furniture and interior designer Evija.

Thankfully, interior trends do not change as fast as trends in the fashion industry. We still prefer the style of 50-80s with functional minimalism, geometry, and functional shapes. Unlike the trends of the past, we tend to choose more nuanced finishing materials – precious wood, marble, especially concrete and various rough patterns. Oftentimes, people opt to leave the original finishing materials, brick motives, old wooden ceiling beams, authentic floorings, e.g. classical parquet.

Color palette is the base of interior.

The latest 2019/2020 fall and winter trends come with more calm tones - gray-blue, dark blue, dark burgundy, vanilla beige, grey beige, as dictated by the Pantone Color Institute. But this does not mean that pastel tones and bright, clean colors are out of style.

Sometimes color combinations are dominated by seemingly incompatible colors – spruce green with coral blue, turquoise blue and copper color, and many others. Since your home is where you seek peace and harmony, it is advised not to get carried away with bright color accents covering large areas. Better bring some brightness in your interior elements – with throw pillows, couch covers, bright vase, painting, or even with a row of colorful book spines.

Grey tones with varying degrees of intensity are still in style – both with blue and brown touch. But always remember that dark colors are more daring and, therefore, please be sure that you will feel cozy and comfortable in dark-colored rooms.

How can one find out what color combinations make them feel the best? Find an inspirational landscape and try finding color combinations, make a list and prepare your own personal color map. If you still lack the sense of feel or confidence about the required solution, turn to a specialist who will help you to find a solution based on your needs.

Trendy motives in interior textile, patterns and prints.

Current wallpaper trends are still dominated by geometry – patterns, lines, textures. Expressive plant motives are joined by stylized, slightly ethnic patterns. This trend is on display in the latest Eijffinger “Terra” (Italian for “Earth) catalogue at RIPO saloons where the symbolic name of the catalogue represents earthy colors in wallpapers.

Flowers, ornaments and classical wallpaper motives are always in style for those who honor classical values higher the fashion trends. Currently interior often incorporates real flowers, creating indoors small but wild botanical gardens.

Strong geometric lines can be seen in polygonal or round luminaires where metal, glass and timber work together giving the room a great accent and irresistible chic.

Curtain and furniture textile trends are dominated by rough, simple, and graphic materials of various colors – both calm pastel tones and more screaming color palettes where the main purpose is to be the leading element in the room, bringing other colors in a single composition.

In terms of materials, rough linen, wavy, and velvet drapery are especially stylish at the moment.

Seasonal materials in furniture design.

When it comes to sense of colors, Latvians are true Northerners. The most in-demand materials in furniture are white, black, grey, beige and brown in combination with wood and artificial stone (kitchens). RIPO encounters these local trends on daily bases.

In closet projects, glass or frosted glass is oftentimes picked for doors giving the closet a modern value, lightness and clean lines.

This year kitchen plumbing manufacturers offer innovative solutions and color combinations with the latest kitchen sink fragranite tone palette where in addition to the regular colors one can also find copper, copper grey, and shining silver colors. Similar news are in the selection of water mixers.

Simple elegance.

Simple elegance never goes out of style as it incorporates functional minimalism which can be complemented with accessories in style at the time – furniture, floor lamps. Not so long ago we would immediately think of a bachelor pad, but now this is an upcoming trend for family living rooms too. Elegance can be shown with a romantic flower motive, laced wallpapers or painted walls in any of the seasonal tones. It is important to remember that the quintessence of interior is a person in the room and how comfortable the person feels there.

Designer Evija invites to be daring.

Risk, try new things, dare more than you can imagine! Trust your specialists. Walls can always be repainted and curtains – changed! Allow yourself to experiment and feel the room!
